Motorbike enthusiast Dave Howells has been fixing car engines since he was fifteen – 46 years ago – so as mechanics go, he’s pretty experienced.
The father of three, grandfather of five and great-grandfather of one lives and works in Blackwood, South Wales.
After years of working for several different garages and having his own Breakdown & Recovery Company in Cornwall for over 20 years, Dave proudly opened his new business in October 2015 – Lane End Garage.
The industrial unit has two cars bays and car and motor cycle ramps.
“It’s great to be a local business owner and serve the community, offering a fair price.”
He fixes anything with an engine – cars, vans, motorcycles, as well as the odd chainsaw, cement mixer and hedge strimmer.
Most of his customers are locals and repeat their business with Dave – however he has recently acquired two business contracts.
“After working for a few Companies in the area I could see there was an opening for a reliable garage putting customer satisfaction first. Becoming my own boss again was one of the best life decisions I’ve ever made – I enjoy the freedom and gratification it brings me.”
He relies on word-of-mouth of his effective services and fair price.
At the moment it is just him at Lane End Garage but he hopes to bring in more staff in the future.
